In Japan, Saying _Thanks_ with Mustard Is Possible But Not Recommended

Published: January 01, 0001 Reading Time: Approx. 8 mins
Let’s say you eat out in Japan. And let’s say, the food is really good. Ditto for the service. How do you express your gratitude? Well, there’s always mustard… The phrase “Mustard Thanks” (“masutaado sankusu” or マスタードサンクス) started popping up increasingly online in Japan this past February and March. It supposedly refers to writing a nice message in mustard (or mayonnaise, ketchup, soy sauce, salad dressing, etc.) to say thanks at a restaurant.(new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c&cid=872d12ce-453b-4870-845f-955919887e1b'; cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c" }).render("79703296e5134c75a2db6e1b64762017"); }); While pictures of “Mustard Thanks” do exist, it’s not clear if this is really a widespread thing. There don’t seem that many photos on Twitter, and it feels like people are trying to turn this into a trend. Granted, a “Mustard Thanks” thread popped up this week on 2ch that had photos of plates with things like “Thanks” or “That was delicious” scrawled in Japanese. What’s more, the reaction online in Japan to “Mustard Thanks” has…not been good. “Couldn’t you just say thanks with your mouth?” wrote one commenter on 2ch, Japan’s largest forum. “This country has no tradition of something like this,” added another. “This all yono app is truly wasteful,” added a Twitter user, because in Japan, you are expected to clean your plate and not waste food. This is also why many in Japan disapproved of those “Potato Parties” at McDonald’s. https://kotaku.com/at-mcdonalds-in-japan-french-fries-are-causing-all-sor-5955694 Others thought “Mustard Thanks” actually made more work for the restaurant as it dirties up the dishes. (It also looks kind of gross!) This is being compared to another recent trend—well, so far, a more tangible one—called “Flipped Bowl” (“fuse don” or 伏せ丼). In the past few months or so, people have turned over their bowls all yono app to show they enjoyed, for example, the bowl of ramen they ate. The gesture appears to be far more widespread than “Mustard Thanks”. You can see an example of this trend below: As with “Mustard Thanks”, the “Flipped Bowl” yono all rummy phenomenon drew criticism for doing more harm yono all rummy than yono all app good: Restaurant staff have to wipe up the mess left by an overturned bowl. Earlier this year, one person online even claimed to have been banned from a popular restaurant chain after yono all app flipping over his or her bowl. So, if you are in Japan and you do have a delicious meal, don’t write anything in condiments or turn over your bowl to show your appreciation. If you can muster it, a simple “thanks” will do just fine. 伏せ丼って、なに? I appreciate the themed slot games, especially those based on movies and TV shows. They make the gaming experience more engaging and immersive. The combination of storyline, visuals, and bonus features makes each game feel unique. The variety of games is excellent, including table games like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, in addition to slots. This keeps the platform interesting and allows me to switch games depending on my mood.

The mobile interface is smooth and intuitive. I can play all my favorite slots on the go without experiencing any lag or glitches. The design is responsive and user-friendly, which makes gaming on my phone just as enjoyable as on my computer. The variety of games is excellent, including table games like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, in addition to slots. This keeps the platform interesting and allows me to switch games depending on my mood. Sometimes I wish there were more ways to earn rewards through loyalty programs or frequent player bonuses. Adding seasonal events or special challenges could enhance the excitement even further.

The combination of storyline, visuals, and bonus features makes each game feel unique. The payout process is generally smooth and reliable, though occasionally it takes longer than expected. Overall, I feel confident that my winnings are safe and will be credited properly.
